Symposia welcomed Andrew Terpstra in 2018 as a project manager, and we have been so lucky to have him on the team. Get to know Andrew!
Tell us a little about your background.
I grew up in Holland, Michigan, then spent 6 years in California before moving back to Grand Rapids. Since 2013, I have worked in roles that required the management of numerous digital marketing facets.
What makes you excited about the work you do?
With a team as exceptionally talented as the one we have, it’s impossible not to be excited about everything we are doing every day.
What challenges have you had to overcome in your field?
I have experienced almost every challenge imaginable in the digital marketing field. Whether it be lack of budget, poor internal communication, lack of digital mindset, poor education, uncooperative ownership/management – I have had to deal with it at some point during my career. And contrary to popular mindsets, I actually am extremely glad to have gone through each and every one of those challenges. Without them, I definitely would not be where I am today and would not possess the capabilities that I have been able to develop over the years.
What is important to you about the culture at Symposia Labs?
Education, education, education.
With a close second of communication.
There hasn’t been a single day that goes by without being encouraged and pushed to learn. Whether it be something I already know a lot about or something entirely new, there is always a push to know more.
When you’re not killing it at digital, what do you like to do?
My home life takes up a lot of my time with my wife and two wonderful children, but when we do manage to find some free time, I really enjoy the outdoors. Whether it’s being out on Lake Michigan in the summer, or snowboarding in the winter, I can always find something to do outside.
