Lisa is Symposia’s all-around expert when it comes to data! She joined Symposia as the paid media specialist in 2018. Get to know Lisa!
Tell us a little about your background.
I am originally from Paris, France, where I first started as a social media manager at an agency before moving to Canada to become a social media manager. I mostly worked with nonprofits in Toronto and Calgary, then I moved to a more “techie” role as a digital marketing specialist where I mostly handled analytics, website updates, email marketing, and PPC (pay per click advertising). In 2016 I decided to focus on PPC advertising and joined Symposia in early 2018.
What makes you excited about the work you do?
The variety of clients and industries! PPC ads are evolving very rapidly.
What challenges have you had to overcome in your field?
There is always a need to educate about social media in general and specifically about PPC. In both of these fields, it can be hard to get a budget approved since results can take a while before becoming measurable. Building trust was an issue when I began as a social media manager. Nobody knew about this role! It was the same with PPC ads but everybody has seen at least one ad on Google so it’s easier to explain how it works.
What is important to you about the culture at Symposia Labs?
People trust you, and you are the expert in your field. They really rely on your expertise, value your input, and ask you to take the lead.
When you’re not killing it at digital, what do you like to do?
Hiking in the summer, photography, traveling (my family tries to travel at least twice a year), TV shows (Netflix, HBO, some French shows as well!), and RPGs (I am a nerd)!
